Pessimism growing in Pakistan

Pakistanis are becoming increasingly pessimistic about prospects for their country and for themselves. According to an opinion poll conducted by the International Republican Institute (IRI), a US-based group that promotes democracy, about 88 per cent Pakistanis feel their country is headed in the wrong direction, 59 per cent say the next year will be worse than the current year and 67 per cent believe democracy has made no difference to their wellbeing.

I think Pakistanis, like all other people from other countries, are finding that their trust in human government is a disappointment. Human beings always fail us, no matter how much we need them to help us.

As human leadership continues to harm and disappoint mankind, there is only One Person they can turn to, and that is God. God has promised to take care of those who belong to Him. He will make a way, where there seems to be no way.

It is a difficult thing to do – to put trust in an invisible person, rather than someone you can see. But that is the only hope for mankind in the years ahead.
